As Senior Survey Officer, Saeed has the overall responsibility of ensuring that the fieldwork of SAC program countries meets the high standards of the Survey Working Group protocols through technical backstopping and training in the field. In addition, he adapts the instruments to survey country conditions, leads the pre-testing of instruments and analyzes the pilot test data pool for compatibility with the standard mine action database (Information Management System for Mine Action).

Saeed has over ten years experience as a researcher and a manager with a working knowledge of various research methods and techniques for both qualitative and quantitative analysis. He is an expert in evaluating various kinds of information and in conveying these evaluations/results to concerned authorities in professional or layman language rather than technical jargon. Saeed’s experience also includes designing and conducting surveys, data collection, data analysis using different econometric and statistical techniques (regression, forecasting), preparing reports and publications, policy recommendations, project design, its monitoring and evaluation. From 1994 until 2002, while on staff at the University of Nebraska he collaborated on a number of research projects which included an analysis of nitrogen and irrigation management alternatives for reducing nitrate pollution of groundwater, a dynamic analysis of alternative groundwater pollution control policies, an analysis of alternative methods of financing sewer and water systems in rural areas, an econometric analysis of the demand for electricity for irrigation, and a game theory analysis of water allocation conflicts. In addition, Saeed served as Chief Executive Officer for the Human Development Foundation of North America from 1998 until 1999, and was a supervisory staff member while at the University of Nebraska.

Saeed received a B.A. in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Peshawar in Peshawar, Pakistan; a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Agriculture in Faisalabad, Pakistan; an M.S. in Agricultural Economics and a Ph.D. in Environmental and Resource Economics from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, U.S.A.
