Angola conducts senior staff training; SAC reviews first draft of Bosnia-Herzegovina final report; Afghanistan, Eritrea, and

Afghanistan
Field operations continue with snow and mud hampering travel in the north and northeast sections.
Angola
SAC signed a €1.5 million contract with the European Commission to support the survey in Angola. The EC has joined the US,
Germany, and Canada in support of the survey.
LIS training continued in Malange where SAC trainer, Tom Haythornthwaite and the SAC Angola team,
traveled to participate in the training with the NPA senior staff.
Azerbaijan
The final report is being prepared for publication.
Bosnia-Herzegovina
Bob Eaton visited Bosnia-Herzegovina to review the results of the Task Assessment and Planning pilot project and Cranfield Mine Action
paid a visit to continue its assistance in the revision of the BIH Strategic Plan in light of LIS findings. The first draft of the
final report is complete and has been submitted to SAC for review. The draft will be sent to the government for review in January.
Eritrea
Through 15 December, the survey data collection is 96% complete and the data validation process is 29% complete.
Ethiopia
Data collection continues with completion rates of 100% (Tigray area), 90% (Afar Area), 71% (Somali area), 100% (Oromiya area),
and 100% (rest of country) as of 29 December.
Global Landmine Survey Evaluation
The final consultants’ report is due from Scanteam in January.
