Afghanistan
The Survey Action Center (SAC) and UNDP-Kabul signed an agreement in April to conduct a landmine impact survey (LIS) beginning
the end of May. The European Commission is the donor and MCPA is the implementing partner for SAC. Alan Macdonald has been hired
as the team leader. An orientation session for the SAC team will take place in Takoma Park 19-22 May.
Angola
SAC is recruiting for a survey coordinator (Click here
for Terms of Reference) and a field coordinator (Click here
for Terms of Reference). Please submit CV and cover letter to jobs@sac-na.org.
Azerbaijan
All field work was completed on 12 April with 649 communities surveyed. Data entry completed; quality control and final report
writing is in process.
Bosnia-Herzegovina
Data collection began and 700 surveys have been conducted as of 30 April. Dr. Rune Engeset, SAC Survey Technical Advisor, was
in Sarajevo from 23-29 April to support their GIS/IMSMA database implementation and customization procedures for the questionnaire
and the coding sheet.
Eritrea
Data collection began and over 200 surveys have been conducted as of 30 April.
Ethiopia
Data collection is on-going in all regions of the country.
Somalia
The final report is being edited and completed before sending to the government officials in Hargeisa for their review the second week of May.
Survey Working Group
The Survey Working Group is scheduled to meet on 12 May in Geneva.
Survey Action Center
Bob Eaton made a presentation on Information Needs for Planning Post-conflict Reconstruction at the Fafo Institute for
Applied International Studies in Oslo on 24 April. Mike Kendellen served on a panel on the global landmine problem and
the role of impact surveys in the planning of mine action programs at the American Natural History Museum in New York
on 30 April. Peter attended a training for trainers course on IMSMA at the Geneva International Center for
Humanitarian Demining from 7-25 April.
Annual General Audit and Federal Grant Audit (A-133)
