Azerbaijan LIS report in final data analysis and writing stages; Bosnia, Eritrea, Ethiopia continue collecting data; Afghanistan prepares
for senior staff training; Uli Tietze joins Angola LIS as Survey Coordinator.
Afghanistan
Recruitment of senior staff complete. On-going discussions with MACA on LIS add-ons to assist in reconstruction efforts. SAC trainer, Tom Haythornthwaite,
arrives in Kabul to prepare for staff training and pre-testing of the survey instruments.
Angola
We are pleased to announce Mr. Uli Tietze as the Survey Coordinator for this survey. Uli has extensive development and humanitarian
relief experience in southern Africa including Angola, where he previously worked with Medico International in Moxico province in a
comprehensive mine action program. Begona Fontan Pena, acting Program Manager, makes progress toward SAC registration and the signing
of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Angolan government.
Azerbaijan
The survey is completed in Azerbaijan. Data analysis and final technical report writing in progress.
Bosnia-Herzegovina
Data collection continues with 2,073 surveys completed. Currently the distribution in impact levels (High, Medium, and Low) for the
surveyed communities continues running at 3%, 44%, and 53%, respectively. BHMAC begins Task Assessment Planning (TAP) in high impact communities.
Eritrea
Data collection continues with 1,122 surveys completed. False positive rate over 60%.
Ethiopia
Data collection continues with 17% of the surveys conducted as of 14 July. Revised operational plan and six additional vehicles
will increase survey weekly rates.
Somalia
Authorities in Hargeisa completed review of the final report. The report is in the production phase prior to printing.
GLS Evaluation
Scanteam visited Cambodia, Thailand, and Bosnia as part of their field visits. In August will visit Mozambique, Ethiopia, Chad, and Yemen.
Final report to be presented in October at Survey Working Group meeting.
