Afghanistan and Angola continue data collection; Bosnia report in final preparations for printing; Eritrea and Ethiopia final
reports in review phase; and final preparations underway for start of Somalia (Phase 2) LIS.
Afghanistan
Data collection continued with a total of 1,440 impacted communities identified as of 25 July. The survey finds 196 (13.7%)
high impact communities, 305 (21.1%) medium impact, and 939 (65.2%) low impact. SAC welcomes Luan Jaupi to the position of
Database Officer and extends a hearty thanks and well wishes to departing Robert Abelsen.

Angola
Data collection continued with 320 surveys completed as of 30 July. Director for Survey, Mike Kendellen, was in country for
monitoring visit; visited survey teams in Huambo, Benguela and Malanje provinces; met with CNIDAH and UNDP.
Bosnia-Herzegovina
UN Certification Committee meeting scheduled for 4 August. Final edits are underway in preparation for printing final report.
Eritrea
UNDP Mine Action Capacity Building Program reviewing draft of the final report prior to submittal to the Eritrean government.
Ethiopia
Ethiopian Mine Action Office (EMAO) reviewing final report.
Somalia (Phase 2)
Final preparations for Phase 2 (Bari, Nugaal and Mudug regions) of the Somalia LIS continue. Almedina Komić (team leader),
Neven Redzic (GIS/Database Officer), and Mohamed A. Hussein (Ops/Admin Officer) to be in Takoma Park for orientation from
16-18 August. The LIS will be conducted by the Puntland Mine Action Center (PMAC).
Survey Action Center
SAC Senior Information Officer, Craig Williams, and former Bosnia-Herzegovina LIS team leader, Emmanuel Sauvage, conducted
Advance Survey Mission in Georgia.
