Afghanistan
The final report submitted for review by the government of Afghanistan.
Angola
At 18-Mar-05 the survey has worked or is working in the following 12 Angolan provinces: Huambo, Benguela , Bie,
Malanje, Kwanza Sul, Kwanza Norte, Moxico, Lunda Sul, Cunene, Huíla, Namibe, Lunda Norte. The six remaining
provinces have yet to begin. As of 18-Mar-05, data of 1,096 survey questionnaires have been entered into the
IMSMA system at CNIDAH. The LIS has identified 1,687 suspected hazard areas in the 1,096 surveyed localities.
Preliminary results indicate Bie and Moxico have more mine impacted communities than the other provinces.
The majority of the recent victims were engaged in travel, fishing, hunting and collecting firewood at the
time of the incident in which they were injured.
SAC headquarters extends its gratitude to field coordinator Christine Murphy for all her contributions at the
LIS survey coordination center in Luanda and welcomes Chris’ replacement Antonio Muhungo.
