Afghanistan final report production in Dari and Pashto continues; survey begins in Sudan.

Afghanistan
The layout in the Dari and Pashto languages by graphic designers continues. English version is ready for printing.

Angola
Fourteen provinces now completed. Bengo, Zaire, Uige and Cabinda remain. SAC secures funding from Germany for technical advisor to oversee completion of field work. Field work is projected for completion by 30 September 2006.

Democratic Republic of Congo
With partial funding from Canada, SAC will begin an enhanced Preliminary Opinion Collection to the district level in 2006.

Ethiopia
Ethiopian Mine Action Office (EMAO) is reviewing the final report.

Jordan
Discussions continue with Jordan and donors on planning for LIS in Jordan in 2006.

Sudan
SAC signs contract with MAG to conduct LIS in East Equatoria (EE) state in south Sudan. MAG hires field coordinator and begins recruiting survey staff. Preliminary opinion collection (POC) planning underway. SAC hires Akram Amiri as survey operations manager and Mustafa Bawar as IMSMA database manager. CIDA to fund the survey in EE.

Survey Action Center
Executive Director Bob Eaton made a presentation to the Mine Action Support Group meeting in Geneva on a global view of the mine problem as indicated by the LIS in 13 countries.
