Afghanistan
The layout in the Dari and Pashto languages by graphic designers continues. English version is ready for printing.

Angola
Fifteen provinces now completed. Bengo, Uige and Cabinda remain. Field work is projected for completion by 30 September 2006.

Democratic Republic of Congo
With partial funding from Canada, SAC will begin an enhanced Preliminary Opinion Collection to the district level in 2006.

Ethiopia
Ethiopian Mine Action Office (EMAO) is reviewing the final report.

Jordan
Discussions continue with Jordan and donors on planning for LIS in Jordan in 2006.

Somalia
The European Commission through UNDP Nairobi has approved funding to continue the LIS in the Sanaag and Sool regions. Somalia Phase III is projected to begin in June. A SAC team will work with the Somaliland Mine Action Center (SMAC) and the Puntland Mine Action Center (PMAC) to conduct the survey in these two regions.

Sudan
Preliminary opinion collection begins in East Equatoria state. POC teams have already covered parts of Kapoeta North, Kapoeta South and are currently operating within Kapoeta East. Field staff being recruited. Customization of IMSMA almost completed. Equipment purchases underway.

Survey Action Center
Bob Eaton attended the EU Mine Action Regional Coordination Meeting for the Horn of Africa. Mike Kendellen completed a mission to Albania for the UNDP Completion Initiative thus completing the 4-country project for UNDP that also included Tajikistan, Yemen and Zambia.
 
Bob visited Cranfield University for consultations on risk management.
 
SAC announces the departure of Program Officer, Russell Klein, who has accepted another position in the international relief and development field. We extend a huge thank you to him for his contributions at SAC over the past three years and wish him great success in his new position.
