Afghanistan [funded by EC, Canada, Germany, UNVTF]
The graphical layout in the Pashto language continues. English and Dari versions are ready for printing.

Angola [funded by EC, USA, Germany, Canada]
Fifteen provinces now completed. Bengo, Uige and Cabinda remain. Field work is projected for completion by 31 December 2006.

Democratic Republic of Congo [funded by Canada]
With partial funding from Canada, SAC will begin an enhanced Preliminary Opinion Collection to the district level in 2007.

Ethiopia [funded by EC, Norway, USA, Germany, Netherlands]
Ethiopian Mine Action Office (EMAO) requests certification of the ELIS through the UN.

Somalia (Phase 3: Sanaag and Sool regions) [funded by EC through UNDP]
Preliminary Opinion Collection (POC) begins in Sanaag and Sool. Khalil Rahman Faiez arrives in Hargeisa as SAC Database Officer for the LIS. Mike Kendellen, Director for Survey, visits Hargeisa from 17-19 August.

Sudan [funded by Canada]
Mines Advisory Group (MAG) completed the field work in East Equatoria state. QAM Russell Gasser conducted intervention as the Quality Assurance Monitor. Mike Kendellen visits Koepeta from 9-12 August. LIS operations in Koepeta close. Planning continues with MAG to conduct the survey in Blue Nile state beginning in September.

Survey Action Center
The US Department of State/WRA awarded SAC grants to conduct analysis on village demining, complete the LIS impact scoring review and follow up from the meeting in Manchester in September 2005, develop the next phase of LIS Explorer found on the SAC website and develop practical economic decision support tools for mine action.
 
Mike Kendellen attended US Department of State/WRA grant management workshop and Mike delivered a lecture on 15 August on information analysis at the Mine Action Technical Advisors’ Course at the International Mine Action Training Centre in Nairobi sponsored by the Resilience Centre, Cranfield University.
