Angola [funded by EC, USA, Germany, Canada]
Final report reviewed by CNIDAH in Luanda and graphic designers prepared report for printing. The report will be distributed and available on the SAC website before year's end.

Democratic Republic of Congo [funded by Canada]
With funding from Canada, SAC will conduct an enhanced survey in selected districts in 2008.

Somalia (Phase 3: Sanaag & Sool regions) [funded by EC through UNDP/UNOPS]
The final report has been drafted and reviewed by UNDP and the Somaliland and Puntland Mine Action Centers. As soon as the review is completed the UN Certification Committee will meet prior to printing and distributing the report.

Sudan [funded by Canada, UNMAS]
Mines Advisory Group continues field work in Warrap, Lakes and Central Equatoria. Surveying in seven states has been completed (East Equatoria, Blue Nile, Kassal, North Bahr el Ghazal, Gadaref, Sennar, and Red Sea). The SAC Board of Directors concluded a tendering process for the next phase of the LIS in Sudan and approved Handicap International as a second partner in the survey.

Victim Reduction Model [funded by U.S. Department of State]
The project is building on the current analytical work of the Survey Action Center to develop and test a model that will permit national authorities to use LIS data to project probabilities of future mine incidents in communities identified by the LIS. The field work in Afghanistan will commence in December.

Impact Scoring Alternatives [funded by U.S. Department of State]
The project proceeds using the databases from the LIS in Angola, Afghanistan and Eritrea to test the statistical significance of including additional variables in the impact scoring system that are not currently part of the SWG protocol.

Mine Information Matrix [contracted by Marshall Legacy Institute with funding from the U.S. Department of State]
SAC, Marshall Legacy Institute, and James Madison University – Mine Action Information Center continue researching key mine affected countries.

Survey Action Center
With funding from Canada (CIDA/ACDI) SAC is developing a small project to explore land release, or land cancellation. Bob traveled to MAG and HALO headquarters to discuss this issue and also met in Scotland with Martin Barber, retired UNMAS chief. SAC then convened a one day session in Jordan at the time of the Meeting of States Parties for a broader discussion by NGOs on this issue.
 
Bob Eaton represented SAC and made a presentation at the Workshop, convened in Sarajevo by Handicap International on Development and Mine Action.
