Somalia (Phase 3: Sanaag & Sool regions)

Field work continues in Sanaag and Sool. Mike Kendellen conducts monitoring visit to Hargeisa.
Sudan
[funded by Canada]
Mines Advisory Group completes field work in Blue Nile state. Thirty-three impacted communities identified
with 2 High, 2 Medium and 29 Low impacted; 10 recent victims identified and 61 SHAs. Mike Kendellen visits to
begin writing the final report for the Blue Nile and monitor project. Kassala, Red Sea and Northern Bahr el
Ghazal are next states to survey. Kassala to begin in February.
Informal Village Demining

Dr. Michael Fleisher is in Afghanistan researching informal village demining. Next month he will conduct
research in Angola.
LIS Explorer Upgrade
[funded by U.S. Department of State]
Subcontractor ThinkGeo LLC of Lawrence, Kansas continues the software development to upgrade the LIS Explorer.
Four new country databases are being added and improvements are being made to the performance and user
interface. The completed upgrade should be posted on the SAC website in March.
Mine Information Matrix
