Angola [funded by EC, USA, Germany, Canada]
Final report drafted, translated into Portuguese, and being reviewed by CNIDAH in Luanda.

Democratic Republic of Congo [funded by Canada]
With funding from Canada, SAC will conduct an enhanced Preliminary Opinion Collection to the district level in 2008.

Somalia (Phase 3: Sanaag & Sool regions) [funded by EC through UNDP/UNOPS]
Field work completed. Final report drafted and being reviewed by UNDP and the Somaliland and Puntland Mine Action Centers.

Sudan [funded by Canada, UNMAS]
Mines Advisory Group continues field work in Warrap, Lakes and Central Equatoria. The LIS report for Eastern Sudan will be available in September. The written reports for Eastern Equatoria and Blue Niles states are available on the SAC website. Soon the databases will be available in LIS Explorer so that they can be interactively searched, filtered, and mapped from the SAC website (see links below under the "LIS Explorer Upgrade" section).

Economic Planning Tool [funded by U.S. Department of State]
SAC conducted field research in Angola and Afghanistan to develop economic decision support tools for use in mine action, with the aim to advance knowledge in the areas of impact survey data utilization, surveillance methods and planning. The final report will be available in October.

LIS Explorer Upgrade [funded by U.S. Department of State]
The new LIS Explorer upgrade is now available from the SAC website (click here for the homepage). Presently this web application includes databases from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Chad, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Thailand, Somalia, and Yemen. The Sudan database will be added in October with subsequent updates as the data is acquired for this on-going survey. A user guide is available for download (click here to view user guide).

Mine Information Matrix [contracted by Marshall Legacy Institute with funding from the U.S. Department of State]
SAC, Marshall Legacy Institute, and James Madison University – Mine Action Information Center continue researching key mine affected countries.
